Dimple Dish

£36.00
sold out

Dimensions: Approximately 5 cm (H) x 17 cm (W)
(Slight variations may occur between pieces, each piece has been photographed individually on this shop.)

This handmade, wheel-thrown dimple dish has a satin blue glaze accented with a pigmented rim in red iron oxide. Its intensity varying subtly depending on the firing process. The blue tones are derived from naturally occurring iron in the clay used for the glaze, in this case, sourced from a construction site near London Fields. Each piece is reduction-fired for twelve hours in a gas kiln that I built this year.

This dish has two thumb marks on either end, which to my mind they look like dimples. This feature comes from when I take the bowl off the wheel, picking it up by a gentle pinch from either side, leaving my hand marks as part of the making process.

It is both food and dishwasher safe, though hand washing is recommended to preserve its finish. Made with white stoneware clay and a satin blue glaze, it may develop natural staining over time. While durable, the edges can chip if handled roughly, so care is advised.

Each piece is unique, celebrating the charm of handmade ceramics.
